11/6/2022 0 Comments Better call saul season 1 finaleRelated: Better Call Saul Season 6: What Kim's Saul Goodman Persona Could Be The highly anticipated sixth and final season was unfortunately derailed when Odenkirk suffered a heart attack, but the actor has now made a full recovery and is back on set. The series brings back notable Breaking Bad alum like Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), and Hank Schrader (Dean Norris), while also introducing equally memorable new characters like Chuck McGill (Michael McKean), Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian), Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), and Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton). Over five seasons, Better Call Saul has chronicled Jimmy McGill's slow descent into his titular alter ego alongside his fellow lawyer and love interest Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn). Since premiering on the same network in 2015, the spin-off has earned similar critical acclaim as its parent series, garnering a total of 39 Primetime Emmy nominations, compared to Breaking Bad's 58. Better Call Saul focuses on Bob Odenkirk's swindler turned criminal lawyer, Jimmy McGill, also professionally known as Saul Goodman, and serves as a prequel to AMC's smash hit series Breaking Bad. I’m not as good as I thought I could be, but it’s all good, man.New behind-the-scenes images from Better Call Saul season 6 hype the show's creative camera angles and filming. The events of this past season have been teaching Jimmy not to strive to be better, and he’s finally listening, saying back to the world, “You know what? You were right. Why would he ever make another attempt at legitimacy when the world has sabotaged every previous one? This question casts Jimmy and subsequently Saul as ultimately tragic figures. The biggest example is Chuck blocking his advancement in HHM, but there’s also the Kettlemans, criminals who won’t deal with a lawyer who could make them look guilty. Over the course of this season, we’ve seen the world and the people who hold the power in it deny Jimmy his chance at complete redemption. Both lead nowhere, so what does he do? He doesn’t accept a position at the law firm because literally nothing has happened to him since moving to Albuquerque that would suggest there’s a legitimate, law-abiding future for him. (Albeit, one that happens just a little too quickly for my taste, but that’s beside the point.) Jimmy has a known two ways of life in the past 10 years. The short answer here is “morals,” but it’s a massive change of heart for the Jimmy that we’ve known that’s worth examining. The way Jimmy sees it, that Chicago Sunroof was the start of all of his problems. Those unfortunate children were the reason that Jimmy’s arrest could have led to him registering as a sex offender if it weren’t for Chuck. For the forgetful out there, a Chicago Sunroof is that thing where you poop through a sunroof, but the key is to make sure that there aren’t any kids in the backseat. This naturally leads to a good amount of drinking from Jimmy, who spots the car belonging to Chet, the man with whom his wife did the deed, outside of Dairy Queen, so he performs a Chicago Sunroof. It turns out that Jimmy was married at one point and that his wife slept around on him. The “B”-induced mental breakdown spurs the lawyer to tell the full story of his last incarceration and why it was such a big deal that Chuck bailed him out. Don’t you just hate it when you’re calling bingo, and nothing but “B”s come out of the shoot? And then you start losing your mind and your anecdotes become way too personal? Jimmy hates that, too. Before Jimmy heads to Chicago, there’s one last, horribly awkward thing that he has to do.
